- May progress to tissue invasion
- Bacteraemia leads to
- Haemorrhagic skin pustules
- Arthritis in knees, ankles & wrists
- Commonly causes septic arthritis & OM in USA
- Most serious infections sensitive to Penicillin G
- Gradual rise in resistance to Penicillin G
