Scoliosis in Neurofibromatosis

  • Scoliosis is common in this group (10-40%) & takes two forms:
    • Dystrophic
    • These short sharp curves usually involve 4-6 vertebra in thoracic spine & require fusion
    • Non-dystrophic
      • These behave as idiopathic curves & can be treated as such
  • There is higher rate of pseudarthrosis in NF
