FRACS Orthopaedic Exams


A fourteen-year-old boy was seen at a local emergency department after sustaining an injury while lying on the floor with the left side of his body facing upward when a companion fell on top of him.

The patient was given an analgesic and was discharged home after a radiograph with right arm in a sling.

At home, he experienced some dyspnoea but no obvious ratory distress. He returns to see you in clinic with a CT scan:

  1. What is the diagnosis?
  2. What are the risks associated with injury?
  3. Over what time frame should the injury be treated?
